Ms. Sue Lennon
Nurse, Therapist, Educator, Coach
France

Sue Lennon worked in Oncology Nursing all her 27-year career, across most treatment modalities and eventually specialising in Urology Oncology in 2002, with a Macmillan Cancer Support badge and a whole new service to develop from scratch.

Recognising that the sexual impact of urological malignancies was largely ignored despite the massive collateral damage patients suffered, Sue studied for a PG Dip in Psychosexual Therapy, followed by a prescribing course, in order to provide a truly holistic ‘one stop’ sexual rehab service.

Sue has always been very involved in challenging social and institutional norms.  Completing her Masters (in Healthcare Ethics and Law) opened her eyes to yet more issues that need to be recognised and addressed, especially around nurse:patient communication, cultural challenges and complex decision-making.  This has led to a great interest in fertility preservation for young women with high risk disease and standard of care required to achieve truly valid consent and positive patient outcomes.

Sue has now left the NHS (and the UK) and lives in France, from where she continues to explore sex and illness as a theme, and to promote this fascinating aspect of holistic care by speaking internationally at conferences and running workshops – helping others to assess and address the sexual consequences of illness and disability.

Throughout the summer, she also offers a simple ‘me-time’ retreat for frazzled health care staff at her home.  See more at www.metime.fr
